Senior Blendshape Character Artist, Electronic Arts Inc., Kirkland, WA. Bring highly-realistic faces to life for both cinematic and in-game sequences. Capture all of the subtle nuance of facial deformations into a highly crafted system of blendshape poses. Incorporate anatomical knowledge, and gather appropriate reference. Sculpt any scanned expressions that are not precisely on pose with a focus on key facial assets such as eyes, mouth, nose, and brow. Complete a facial rig of up to 300 blendshapes per character and populate the blendshape rig with the base expressions and test to ensure likeness is maintained through range of motion. Work with TechAnim/Tools to create a tool to aid in testing and implement library. As part of a continual improvement process, export the mesh out to Z-Brush for the creation of a blendshape corrective and then return this back into the rig, and repeat as necessary until a best-in-class likeness is maintained throughout the range of motion. Conduct thorough stress testing. Collaborate with the rigging department to create clean, efficient, and highly polished facial rigs. Work with TechAnim to keep rigs performant. 40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Wage Range: $151,133-$163,100/yr.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Design, or in related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.

Position requires 2 years of experience in each of the following skills:

  • Sculpting facial blendshape targets;
  • Directing FACS scan acquisition;
  • Transferring digital likeness from video reference to facial performance;
  • Populating facial animation rig with blendshapes;
  • Maya;
  • Zbrush; and
  • 3D rendering.
