Live Oak Waldorf School is seeking a full-time Administrator to begin job shadowing in January 2026, leading the school into its next phase of development with vision, collaboration, and care. This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving and dedicated Waldorf school community in the beautiful Sierra Foothills of Northern California.
Live Oak Waldorf School serves children from birth through 8th grade, including a parent-child program. Nestled in the Sierra Foothills in Meadow Vista, CA, our campus offers convenient proximity to both Lake Tahoe and the San Francisco Bay Area. Spanning 40 acres, it features an early childhood village, a natural amphitheater, gardens, a woodshop, an assembly and music room, and hiking trails through surrounding woods. Our campus reflects our values of outdoor learning, rhythm, and reverence for the natural world.
We are a fully accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), and maintain strong ties to the wider Waldorf movement.
The Administrator serves as a central leadership figure at the school, rooted in servant leadership and committed to shared, collaborative governance. This role works in partnership with the College of Teachers, Board of Trustees, and Leadership Council supporting the school’s educational mission while overseeing the school’s day-to-day administrative functions.
The Administrator plays a key role in aligning the school’s strategic goals with its financial and organizational capacities, building clear systems of communication, and cultivating an environment of transparency, professionalism, and trust.
Working closely with both the Board of Trustees and the College of Teachers, the Administrator is required to attend all meetings of the Board of Trustees in a non-voting, advisory capacity, providing reports, updates, and administrative perspectives to support informed and transparent decision-making. The Administrator’s performance is formally evaluated by the Board with input from staff, faculty, and the broader school community.
A core responsibility of the role is to align the school’s strategic goals with its fiscal and operational capacities. The Administrator fosters transparent communication across all areas of school life and supports ongoing growth and development, all while upholding the school’s mission and its deep commitment to human development.

This is a full-time, year‑round exempt position, with a starting annual salary of $68,640, based on California’s exempt‑employee threshold for 2025. This meets the minimum salary requirement to maintain exempt status under California law. Benefits include:

● Experience or training in Waldorf education/administration is strongly preferred
● Bachelor’s degree in a business or related field is preferred
● Minimum 2 years of leadership experience, ideally in an independent or nonprofit school
● Knowledge of human resource practices, regulatory compliance, and nonprofit operations
● Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and fundraising culture is desired
● Strong organizational leadership and strategic planning skills
● Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
● Comfort working collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders
● Strong written and verbal communication
● Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Student Information Systems
