Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated team member to help foster a nurturing learning environment that sparks curiosity and supports the holistic development of children. In this role, you'll plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that allow children to explore, learn, and grow in meaningful ways. You'll support children's development across social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and language domains, ensuring each child's readiness for the next stage in their educational journey. Additionally, you'll work to create and maintain a balanced, safe, and healthy learning environment and build strong relationships between families, children, and the broader community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Demonstrate a strong understanding of educational philosophies and regulations (such as EEC, NAEYC, Head Start, and QRIS) relevant to the classroom.
Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.
Support the classroom team in preparing and implementing enriching learning environments that nurture each child's development.
Maintain accurate records using assessment tools like TSG.
Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to grow as an educator.
Maintain open communication with the lead teacher or supervisor, sharing important updates and feedback.
Observe, assess, and document children's behavior, identifying areas for growth and supporting any necessary interventions.
Ensure the classroom is well-stocked and maintains a safe, clean, and organized space.
Accurately track attendance and be aware of the number of children in your care at all times.
Conduct regular safety drills (including fire drills) and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
Build meaningful relationships with families through communication, conferences, home visits (if applicable), and involvement in family engagement activities.
Participate in team meetings and collaborate across departments to ensure effective communication and support.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and organizational policies.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

EEC qualified for a teaching position.
Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Effective communication skills, especially with children, families, and colleagues.
Basic computer skills are an advantage.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to handle the physical demands of the position, including lifting children and sitting on the floor with them.
Quick reactions and the ability to move swiftly in case of emergencies, including navigating stairs.
A recent physical exam demonstrating good health and meeting all relevant EEC/HS requirements.

Working Conditions: This position may involve direct or incidental contact with clients served by various programs funded by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
