Position description

This is a new position to strengthen the geopolitical advisory team (also known as the Global Intelligence Team) within Nokia’s global Geopolitical and Government Relations (GGR).  The individual will report to the VP Geopolitical Relations based in Espoo, Finland, but will also be a key part of Nokia’s Washington DC efforts to understand and shape US policies.

  • Expand Nokia's understanding of how the global political environment impacts its US business and interests
  • Engage with US intelligence agencies and other federal agencies
  • Advise Nokia’s Global Leadership Team on the impact of world events on Nokia’s business
  • Produce concise summaries of complex geopolitical issues
  • Identify policy advocacy needs to advance company business goals
  • Develop engagement strategies and advocacy to influence US government opinions
  • Leverage Nokia's US presence to gain government support for global ambitions.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have:

  • Proven ability to understand how geopolitical factors affect the business environment that Nokia operates in, globally.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of how the US and other governments formulate policy
  • An ability to advocate for Nokia with US partners.
  • Interpersonal skills to work across cultures and languages.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a US government branch requiring sensitive clearance.
  • Experience handling geopolitical risks and opportunities.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Familiarity with government structure and processes (DoD, DHS, NSC/NEC, FCC, Commerce, State, or congressional committees).
  • An enthusiasm for or understanding of communication technologies
