Job Description
Our client, an agency in NYC, is looking for a Full Stack Developer (freelance to start, fully remote). As a Senior Developer, you should have experience in multiple languages and frameworks, but have focused expertise in at least one. You are able to see the bigger picture behind design patterns and architecture and how to engineer complex behaviors and components. You can proactively spot typical technical and creative issues before they come up based on your previous experiences and offer up the research and solutions-oriented approach that moves innovation forward. You excel at working comfortably with other team members from various departments. We expect a professional understanding of web technologies and computer science.
- This role is fully remote, but will need to work EST hours.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and others in the creation of design-detailed, UX-savvy digital products
- Participate in the software design, development, and implementation using Adobe Experience Manager (Sites, Assets)
- Provide deep knowledge expertise in Adobe Experience Manager (Sites, Assets) and working knowledge of Adobe Experience Cloud products (Target, Forms, Analytics, Audience Manager)
- Assist in the conceptual and technical design, using object-oriented design techniques and Adobe best practices
- Assist with the estimation of development tasks, project planning, risk identification and mitigation planning
- Assist in defining/designing/implementing the development architecture
- Independently interface with client technical teams and business owners as needed during the design and implementation
- Manage individual time and tasks
- Showcase your AEM expertise by leading/educating others on the functional and technical capabilities
- Mentor junior team members, ensure software developed adheres to best practices and quality standards through code and design reviews
- Build on a collection of robust, reusable web components with HTML, CSS, and Javascript that others will be happy to pick up and work with
- Create experiences that are accessible, immersive, and forward-compatible aligning with standards and best practices
- Write consistent clean, readable code that can be easily maintained
- Architect front-end solutions for larger web applications, sites, emerging formats, determining modularity, systematic design, and planning for extensibility and scale
- Be responsible for making technical choices and direction on the project and working closely with creative and production leads
- Rapid prototyping and knowing when to evolve prototypes to a production-ready state
- Cultivate a healthy, inclusive learning culture both within and between teams
- Ability to research, advise and consult on best practices and explain highly technical plans in simple terms
Required Qualifications:- Possess deep expertise in core engineering concepts, including algorithms, data structures, networking, and databases
- Extensive backend experience with strong understanding of design patterns and ability to write optimized database queries
- Skilled in selecting the right tools and frameworks for specific challenges, knowing when they accelerate work and when they may hinder it
- Comfortable integrating with third-party APIs, services, and content management systems like Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or WordPress
- Proficient in modern front-end technologies such as HTML5, HTL, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, ES6+, Next.js, Node, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, vanilla JavaScript, and preprocessors like SASS, LESS, PostCSS, including their configurations
- Experience with backend and server-side technologies including REST/SOAP APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, microservices, and enterprise service buses
- Familiar with Java and related tools/frameworks such as JSP, Sling, JMS, JUnit, and Eclipse
- Comfortable using development tools like Git, GitHub, Jira, Selenium, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and others for CI/CD workflows
- Experienced with technologies across multiple tiers including Tomcat, Apache HTTP, Solr, open-source packages, and content delivery networks (CDNs)
- Proficient with dependency management systems like NPM, RequireJS, and Browserify
- Capable of building custom applications and workflows using AEM technologies (Java, Sling, JCR)
- Familiar with digital analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Adobe Analytics, and Omniture
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and web accessibility standards
- Knowledgeable about web security practices, including OWASP guidelines
- Skilled in performance optimization for web experiences, including load time and speed improvements
- Experienced in architecting solutions for high-traffic applications and capacity planning
- Proven ability to lead engineering efforts with multiple developers and cross-functional collaboration
- Strong mentorship skills, able to review code and support junior developers
- Comfortable with project tracking tools like Jira, Workfront, and similar platforms
- Able to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously and independently
- 6–10 years of experience building various digital experiences, solving diverse technical and creative challenges
- Solid grasp of animation techniques and experience using animation libraries
- Experience with creative/emerging web technologies such as WebGL, Canvas, Three.js
- Exposure to non-web technologies like Swift, Java, Objective-C, Unity, or Unreal Engine
- Background in server-side development and/or DevOps workflows
- Familiar with agile development methodologies and iterative collaboration with stakeholders
- Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with a low-ego, solutions-first approach
- Previous experience working in agency, entertainment, or tech-driven environments
